How Does My Writing Schedule Look Like?
Here's how I manage to edit my novel and write about entirely different things in a day, reaching at least 1,000 words a day.
Hi, my friend!

On planning your writing schedule
Final thoughts
While I have been working on editing the book, I am happy to have managed to write a different article as well. Just so you may know, (I am speaking for myself because I don’t know how other writers do this), I don’t write the same thing in a day. As much as I can, I try to diversify my writing schedule within the whole day to keep me going and avoid getting bored.
For example, I’ll show you how my day looks today with an itinerary just to make sure you understand my point.
6:00 AM — Waking up, but still on the bed to daydream (or maybe sleep again)
7:00 AM — Getting up, having coffee, and watching random YouTube videos
9:00 AM — Writing a draft for the newsletter (estimated 1,000 words)
11:00 AM — Listening to random songs saved on my Spotify and YouTube playlist (I use music in my creative exercises to help me visualize the scene, and by listening to the lyrics or feeling the rhythm, I could feel the characters’ emotions as if I were in an MV or movie.)
12:00 NN — I wrote another separate draft of the manuscript of my novel “The Rival” with more than 77K words (and counting) offline and continued editing the chapters (Note: Although I already finished the manuscript a week ago, I decided to rewrite 45% of the entire book.)
3:00 PM — I did a proofreading test for an app company after I received an invitation to join a team as a specialist. If I pass, I could get this new job, which is aligned with what I’m passionately like to do. It allows me to gain new experience in storytelling and book writing, as well as help new writers improve their stories and book publishing.
5:00 PM — Break (household errands)
10:00 PM — Writing a new draft for the newsletter
12:00 AM — Sleeping time :)
On planning a writing schedule
What you just saw is how my day looked. I mean, today. The schedule I have yesterday looked different than today, and certainly, tomorrow will have another set of writing activities.
At the first glance, you’d find it chaotic, but this system has helped me overcome writing paralysis. Do you still remember when I told you about Writer’s Block?
If yes, I’d like to ask you why I am doing this?
As you may know, writing is hard work. It requires long periods, I mean hours of not doing anything except typing on the keyboard and staring at the screen for a long time. Over time, it gets boring.
In my case, I tend to procrastinate. Since I was a child, I always have had difficulty with activities that require an intense focus within a specific timeframe, resulting in disorganization and getting myself into trouble at school.
However, I could spend hours of daydreaming which includes character and plot developments, as well as writing pages of the book. The rule is, as long as it interests me. If not, I have to diversify my writing schedule, for instance, when I do freelance or full-time writing.
Final Thoughts
In my previous emails, I mentioned how you could go back and relive your childhood unicorns through writing while reliving those things you’re truly passionate about. Your feelings, thoughts, and questions you have in your mind could also be great sources for your writing niche.
The point is, you don’t have to write the same thing for a long time. Explore different genres and types of content you like to write. Focus on these areas when you want to make money from writing online later on.
Happy writing!
